Remarks: The vegetative cells of A. spinospermum and A. phymatosporum have similar morphological characteristics, but the first species is in general smaller than the latter. Some of the doubtful intermediates are placed on the page of A. phymatosporum. The vegetative cell that is depicted here comes froms from the same sample as the depicted zygospore.
